ABOUT DÁCIA IBIAPINA

Dácia Ibiapina, from Piauí, 66 years old, is a film director, screenwriter, and producer. She holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), a Master’s in Communication from the University of Brasília (UnB), a PhD in Development, Agriculture and Society from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), and completed postdoctoral research in the Graduate Program in Communication at UFPI. She specialized in Film and TV at the International School of Film and TV (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. She received the Paulo Emílio Salles Gomes medal in recognition of her fight for the preservation of Brazilian audiovisual heritage. She was also honored at the Beira – Porto Velho Film Festival and the Rastro Documentary Film Festival for her career and contributions to national cinema. She directed the films Cadê Edson? (2020), Carneiro de Ouro (2017), Ressurgentes: um filme de ação direta (2014), O gigante nunca dorme (2013), Entorno da Beleza (2012), CinemaEngenho (2007), Vladimir Carvalho: conterrâneo velho de guerra (2005), O chiclete e a rosa (2001), Palestina do Norte, O Araguaia Passa Por Aqui (1998) and O pagode de Amarante (1984).
