ABOUT EDILEUZA PENHA DE SOUZA

Edileuza Penha de Souza grew up in Vitória, Espírito Santo. She is a Professor, Filmmaker, and Researcher. She holds a degree in History, a PhD in Education, and a Postdoctoral degree in Communication from the University of Brasília. She studied at EICTV – Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Edileuza is the creator and coordinator of the Adélia Sampaio Black Film Competitive Showcase. She works as a curator and jury member at national and international film festivals. She directed the films Valley of Souls (2023), Filhas de Lavadeiras (2019), Mulheres de Barro (2015), Sem Limites (2013), Um Peso por um Chiste (2013), and Conta-Contos: A Arte de Ouvir e Contar Histórias (2010).
